Al-Nassr have announced the appointment of former manager Raul Caneda as their 3rd of the season, taking over the work of Jorge da Silva and Fabio Cannavaro; both of whom failed to make any sort of improvement in this team over the course of the 2015-16 season.

With the title out of the question for Al-Nassr and the Champions League spots slowly slipping away, Caneda will want to consolidate the team’s position in the top 6 before making a calculated, strong surge at the King Cup which is the direct qualifier for the Asian Champions League. Moreover, Caneda has the 2016 edition of the Asian Champions League to focus on starting this Tuesday.

Aleksandar Ilic, Al-Raed || February 5th, 2016

Al-Raed have announced the appointment of Serbian Aleksander Ilic to replace previous manager Takis Lemonis, who was sacked at the beginning of the month. Ilic, 46, will lead the 12th placed team for the coming period. Ilic was also the assistant of Milovan Rajevac at Al-Ahli in 2011.
Al-Raed have been in a dire situation this season, only winning twice in 14 games. The situation didn’t improve with Lemonis, who was sacked due to the results under his tenure. Ilic will watch Al-Raed’s next game vs. 3rd placed Al-Ittihad from the stands.

Alvaro Gutierrez, Al-Shabab (KSA) || January 2nd, 2016

Al-Shabab have announced the termination of Alvaro Gutierrez’s contract after recent results, most notably the 4-0 thrashing received by Riyadh rivals Al-Hilal in the Saudi Crown Prince Cup semi final. Gutierrez will be replaced by Tunisian Fathi Al-Jabal, who is no stranger to the Abdullatif Jameel Saudi Pro League.

Only just over a fortnight ago was Al-Jabal coaching relegation-threatened Najran before ending his tenure at the club via mutual consent. The results were the least of his concerns during the time, as Najran have the burden of playing away from their city for every game of the season due to sharing a border with Yemen.

Gutierrez’s sacking also comes at a perfect time as Al-Jabal can now venture through the market for suitable foreign players that are so highly regarded in the Middle East. Al-Shabab, though, have already announced their first foreign signing in the same article as the departure of Gutierrez. Fellow Uruguayan Mauricio Affonso has been replaced by Mohammad Benyettou for a fee said to be worth $2.2 million.
